Code of NatureThe Code of Nature is an application and an extension to the natural world, of the ideas expressed in our exploration of the photographic language. The photographs in this portfolio draw on the meaning we as humans attach to the objects depicted. They are therefore necessarily less universal and more personal than those seen in Codes of Photography. While many would perceive the difference between wood and stone, few would understand why one piece of stone or wood matters more to me than another. As the visual cues gather together into families, one begins to see new forms. Enhanced by the choice of viewpoint, they take on meanings of their own. There comes an ambiguous point where one wonders whether this is the language of photography or the language of Nature, where one stops and the other starts. Do we imagine this is Nature’s code or is it really there, independently of ourselves? Click here for the next gallery: Urban Codes. Use of thumbnail
